Blogathon 2006!
I've already started thinking about this and planning for it. I'm psyched for this year's Blogathon.
I had a whole lot of fun with it last year. I made some new friends I've stayed close with, bonded with Mango and raised over $500 for my charity. It was a crazy 24 hours that went by fast and I really had a great time with it.
This year I'm going to be a monitor, I'm flattered I was accepted and thrilled to do it. My own monitor was a no-show last year, she came by once at the start and that was the last I heard from her. It was a bit of a let down, I saw some of the groups with really involved monitors and they seemed to be sharing in something I was missing out on. This year I'm going to do my best to be involved with the blogs I'm monitoring and be a cheerleader when it gets into the wee hours.
I also have to pick a charity for myself. I want to blog for some place that really needs the money, that was a mistake I made last year. The charity is too big, they showed no interest in my efforts and it bothered me. I was glad I made as much as I did for a good cause but their attitude turned me off.
I'd love to do something for cats. Cat rescue or pet rescue or something feline where the money will be appreciated and put to good use. If anyone has any suggestions I'd love to hear them, it's not too early. I want to put a special site together for it this year so the earlier the better.
I can't wait for this thing, I'm really pumped for it.

Lucas is a special needs kitty & his Mommie could really use the help.

how do you raise the monet? ask people for a lump sum...by the hour? And how can two people do one blog?

Oreo, I went and looked at Lucas - I think I’m going to ask you how I go about sending him some supplies.
Katkat, when you sign up for the ‘thon you create an account for yourself. People who want to sponsor you click your name and pledge their amount. It’s one lump sum amount rather than by the hour and it’s on the honour system that people will actually pay up what they pledge.
If two people want to blog together that’s fine, one of the best blogs I saw last year were two people blogging for greyhound rescue. You just register with the name of the blog and who will be doing the blogging and you’re done.

What about donating to local literacy organizations that are trying to get books to the libraries that got wiped out in Katrina?
Or just in general there are plenty of small groups in that area trying to help out.

Myrtle, that’s a great idea! I have a friend down there who’s spent a lot of time helping people with literacy in the area, she would know exactly where to point me. Thank you!
Oreo, my server has problems with aol. It bounces any mail I send to aol back to me. Is there another way I can reach you?
