Blogathon 2007 - Sticky Post

The sticky was too big so I put it behind the cut.

If you haven't already, please read it.

Thanks.

All About Blogathon 2007 and my part in it inside!

Blogathon 2007 is here. This post will stay on top until the Blogathon begins on July 28th. New regular posts below.

The Blogathon is a truly grand thing that is run by two very competent women. It is a collection of bloggers who come together and for 24 hours blog for charity. Each on their own blog, each for their own charity. The Blogathon is a rare chance to put a blog to good use and meet some fun new friends along the way.

Blogathonners are sponsored by kind souls who support the blogger's charity and have a few doubloons to give to a good cause. All money pledged is paid directly to the charity, not the blogger or the Blogathon. At the successful completion of the Blogathon, sponsors receive an email telling them their blogger made it and providing the information on how to pay their pledge. It is done on the honour system, no one will hunt you down to make sure you pay, there is faith in humanity with the Blogathon.

This is my third year. In 2005 I blogged for Doctors Without Borders. In 2006 I blogged for the NY Humane Society. This year I am blogging for the ASPCA.

I love my cat more than anything or anyone in the world save for my parents. I still cry often over the loss of my first cat Claude LeMew. I love and at the same time hate watching the Animal Cops on Animal Planet, I cry at the cruelty and rejoice at the rescues, adoptions and kindness these poor animals finally receive. Blogging for the ASPCA seemed like the natural thing to do.

Now I ask you for two things.

First and most important I ask you for your money. I have no shame, this is me looking you right in the eyes as I point to the image of my living cat and cat in urn and stick my hand out. Please sponsor me, please dig into your wallet and your heart and sponsor me, sponsor the ASPCA.

No amount is too small, last year a few people said they were embarrassed they could only sponsor $5.00 so they didn't sponsor at all. No amount is too small. The ASPCA can do a lot with $5.00 and $5.00 pledges add up. Please feel proud that you helped an animal, the amount doesn't matter.

Second is 5 minutes of your time. You have to register to sponsor but it's a quick and painless process with minimal info needed and it's worth it for the end result.

I've set a goal for myself to raise $1,000 for the ASPCA this year. It's not a huge amount in the people world but for the ASPCA it is a tremendous amount. Please help me with whatever sponsorship you can, please help me reach my goal by sponsoring me.

You can choose to remain anonymous if you wish and I will only know I received an anonymous pledge. If you don't want to be listed here in my posted list of sponsors just let me know.

I can't say thank you enough to anyone who sponsors me. I believe strongly in random kindness and paying it forward and acts of sponsorship kindness are the very best good juju there is. My gratitude runs deep for you and I appreciate your generosity more than I can express.

Please give me your money.

Thank you.

I've gotten some questions about sponsoring so I've added them behind the cut. I don't want to stretch this entry the whole length, it's long enough! More info behind cut!

Is This For Real? - Yes, very much so. The Blogathon has been around for a while, it is completely on the level with nothing hidden. It was started as a labour of love and continues to run as a labour of love.

How Do I Sponsor? - If you are interested in sponsoring me, you can click here and it will take you right to the link to sponsor me.

Do I Have To Register? - Yes but it's really quick and painless and they don't ask you very much. However, if you're really against registering there is an option for me to make a proxy pledge for you and I will receive the email about your pledge after the Blogathon.

Will the Blogathon Spam Me After the Event? - NO. The Blogathon admins have made 100% sure that your email will never be spammed or your privacy invaded. You can read the Blogathon Privacy Policy here.

How Do I Pay? - After the successful completion of my blogging 24 hours, you will receive an email letting you know I made it and you can go ahead and pay your pledge directly to the charity. It's all very simple and fast.

Where Do I Learn More? - There is a Blogathon FAQ you can read with all the info you need.

  5. Hey, just wanted to come along and introduce myself - I’m John and I’ll be your monitor for the Blogathon.

  6. Hello,

The blogathon is a great thing that you are doing.  An additional way to benefit the ASPCA is to search the web on http://www.searchgive.com/charity/American_Society_for_the_Prevention_of_Cruelty_to_Animals.  This might be a good topic for one of your posts on the blogathon.

    Best of Luck.
