Cat Magic
I think I had a minor meltdown earlier. Nothing major, nothing earth shattering but still a minor meltdown.
Made me realise how amazing cats are.
My meltdown consisted of curling up in the dark guest room and having that good old cry. This was interrupted first by Claude wandering onto the bed for his spot on the second pillow. He had his full purr going and as he has done for the past 9 years, he didn't flinch when his fur got wet with a few stray tears. A few minutes later the rat came scampering in and for once Claude didn't try to eat him. He settled in against Claude who immediately started licking his ears.
It was damn cold outside. The window was cracked and people were wandering through the park. I just stayed there like that for hours, an arm around each cat. They looked so comfortable, it was a very Zen moment and even I had to relax a bit and just revel in their simplicity and cuteness.
Such a simple pleasure that can really be calming, just cats being cats. They have no clue they're bringing such good mojo to their owner, they're just being cats. Or dogs, take your pick.
No, they're not children. But they're definitely the best things that have happened to my life in the past 9 years.

They knew exactly what they were doing. You needed comforting, they provided it, that’s their job. Our cats do the same thing.
