Closure? Not Hardly.
Claude's ashes should be ready to be picked up tomorrow.
Yes, I had him cremated and I picked out a plain but nice wooden urn. It has a picture slot in the front and a little brass plaque on it. Some might call it morbid or a waste of money but that's alright. Eventually I'm going to go and this way he can go with me, I want it that way. Makes me feel better.
Please don't let anything go wrong with this tomorrow, I think if one more bad thing happens to someone I love I'm going to lose this facade of calm I've been perpetrating.
Yes, there will be a picture of the urn box here. Deal with it.

I have all of my babies burried (illegally) in my own backyard. My husbands aunt had hers cremated. I dont think its morbid at all.
However if you, like his aunt, start carrying his urn EVERYWHERE with you, I might start to worry a bit.
(hugs)
You’re doing good, Kittyn.

I’m bang alongside KatKat and Yummy. Its neither morbid nor a waste of money. You’re doing the right thing, and, fingers crossed, all will go smoothly.

I like the idea of retaining ashes. You then have the option of having your own ceremony sometime down the line, perhaps even letting them go when you are ready. I know some who’ve let the ashes go in a really scenic spot, and I know others who keep the ashes, putting them in storage or placing them upon a shelf. Either way is just fine.

I’d worry more abot the people who find it odd… In my living room you would find two engraved frames, one bearing the name DUSTY and the other HANK. Our old cat and dog. They were FAMILY for Pete’s sake. We didn’t keep their ashes, but by God we’re not letting go of their memory.
Good for you for doing what feels right for you. People who don’t get that....feh, kick ‘em in the nads.

Hello, Michele sent me.
I’m torn. On the one hand, I say “whatever makes you happy” on the other, I say, “this shouldn’t make you happy” I guess there is room for mourning and if this is what you want, then so be it, but if you start letting it consume you...just don’t carry it around like Yummy’s aunt - mmkayarchshrk on 02/21 at 03:58 PM -
Sorry for your loss, Kittyn.
