Confessions of a (non)Podcasting Moron - Pt. 2
I really must have pissed a gypsy off in another life. Everything that should work for me seems to kick me in the arse when I need it.
I waited until the Gotard came home from work to do anything, my head needed a break and it was pounding all day. He stuck the adapter in the adapter in the mic (it needed an adapter to fit into the Roland) and into the cpu it went.
Downloaded the trial version of Sound Forge Audio Studio and it was instant love. Somewhat akin to running into Criss Angel dressed like a priest wandering a graveyard under a full moon chanting "Heatherlyn.." It did exactly what Audacity seemed to do only it did it faster and smoother.
The computer then crapped out on me. Poof. Restarted itself for no reason. No, it's not a virus. I'm all up to date on that crap, not a virus. Something with the video stuff. Run a few programs and try to record something with the wonder mic and see how it sounds on Sound Forge. Still a bit low and I couldn't figure out live streaming/recording but better.
Computer poofs again as I was typing something. Repeat 3 times.
I did another full virus scan just to be sure. all 800,000+ files on the computer. It was it 798,425 when it rebooted itself again. 5 or so hours into it.
A string of some of the best quality NY-style cursing then followed, I would have made my father proud.
Got disgusted and tried to sleep and only ended up watching Imus for far too long.
This morning the Gotard suggests the mic might be too much and for whatever reason, not working with it. Unplugged mic and the beast hasn't rebooted itself all day. But that leaves me right back where I friggin' started.
I also haven't opened SF yet today, I wanted to see if it was the mic before I tried anything else.
I've ordered a full copy of SF, even if I end up sticking with Audacity it's not much money and it's something I can use. Next I have to get a mic that's more than what I had but less than his Shure. The SF is due for delivery on the 26th, I can get some sort of mic tomorrow.
I am slow. I am feeble. I am moron. I am clueless. I am confuzzled. But I am stubborn and determined still and SF was really fun to diddle.

That would surely drive me insane in the membrane… and I’m not just talking about MindFreak in priest garb either. I’d be sledgehammering harddrives in frustration in less than an hour.
