Debating Dems
Of course I watched the debate with fascination.
I'm still annoyed at Obama's getting in bed with Sharpton, that single fact alone is enough to turn me off to Obama no matter how much I used to like him. Sorry Barack, you blew it for me with that move.
It was an overall enjoyable debate with a few good answers in there. I like Brian Williams, I think he did a fine job moderating. Joe Biden won the moment of humour for the night with his "Yes" answer and as prepared as I was to jump on Hillary, she handled herself pretty well.
For me, Dennis Kucinich had the best answers for me. I know he doesn't have a snowball's chance in Hell of getting the nomination but I liked his attitude and his words.
It seems rather pointless on the Dems side. It's either going to be Hillary or Obama and I think we all know that. I respect and appreciate the rights of all the others to run but to me it just seems like it's a pointless run. An upset would be amusing though. The underdog Dem. who comes out and blows away the big two.
I won't be voting for either of them so it doesn't really matter to me. I could have voted Obama as I learned more of his stand on issues. I liked everything about him and then he had to go and get in bed with Sharpton. I can't vote for Hillary. I don't have any deep feelings of hate for her or any hostility at all, I just don't think he did much as a NY Senator and I don't think she'd make a good President.
Next week we have the Repubs. This one I'll watch with a more personal interest, these are the men representing my party. Knock off the conservatives right off the bat, we've had enough conservatives running the show. From what I've learned of Romney he interests me but this country is not ready to elect a Mormon President. That's not being a bigot, it's just a fact. Took a long time to elect an Irish Catholic, they're not going to elect a Mormon. McCain is a hawk, he's too into the war for me. Then there's Rudy.
Rudy has a lot of open-minded attitudes. He's pro gun control without revoking the right to legally own a gun. He's pro stem-cell research. He's pro gay civil unions. He was the Mayor of NY city and did a decent job. He's tough on crime, he cleaned Times Square in such a way it's still all Disney and popcorn (which pissed me off at the time, I liked the old cheesy 42nd street). I never thought I could endorse Rudy.
I don't see any candidates that truly inspire me. None I would personally volunteer for or officially endorse with the station or anything.
It's so damn early though. Why are we having debates so far in advance? There should be a limit on how far a person can milk things.
Important issues for me:
Health Care
The illiteracy/stupidity problem in America
Stem cell research
Gay marriage, the constitution does not belong in the bedroom of consenting adults
Ending the war without making what we've done so far a waste of time
Post boomer social security, will there be any
At least it's early enough to see if any of the candidates have what I'm looking for. I'm not tied to party lines, I'd vote American Communist if the candidate had a chance of winning and shared some of my ideals.
Come dance with me, lovers of politics. It's going to be a verrrrrrrrrry interesting year and a half!

My brain might just explode if this starts any earlier next time…
And I’m glad I’m not the only one that was absolutely disappointed by Barrack.

Is there a transcript / stream of the debate? I couldn’t catch it, I’d like to see it.
John McCain surprisingly isn’t that offensive to me, except his stance on the war.

I’m at a point where I won’t won’t won’t and have I mentioned won’t vote for a Republican.
There was a time when I was open to both parties but I’m so angry at where our country is at right now that I couldn’t vote for a Republican if there was a good one.
Obama is only out for himself from everything I’ve heard of him...Hillary scares me...and the Republicans make me want to head for the hills.
Next stop....hee hee...Canada.
