Goal Met. I Love You People.
I am completely and utterly blown away.
I started this year's Blogathon hoping to match last year's total. Then I wanted to beat it. Then I set a long range goal of making a thousand dollars but I didn't really expect to meet it.
Everything costs too damn much these days and money isn't something given away lightly but I'm the eternal optimist at heart and despite all my bitching, I really believe there is much good in the world.
Tonight a friend from Waterdeep MUD sponsored me just the right amount to break that thousand dollar goal. He didn't have to do this, he just did it because he felt like it and did it. He didn't even say anything to me, I went to go check to sponsorship amounts and almost lost it.
Thank you. Thank you for reviving my wavering faith. Thank you for helping me reach a goal. Even the small ones are goals achieved and they count. Just ... thank you.
And now the plugs.
You've all read my plugs of myself and my friends. Those all still stand. But I want to take a minute to point out some blogs you might be missing that are worth checking out. The bloggers are real, the charities fantastic and sometimes a blogger can get lost in the masses. It's up to other bloggers to point them out.
So go take a look and if you can, sponsor a dubloon or two.
Binary Blonde: A personal favourite of mine. If there is a person who is both genuinely good and also quite humble, I came across Binary Blonde a while back. I followed her blog as she spent her time and money helping animals post Katrina. Go read her stories, you'll be captivated. She did what I wish I had gotten up and done.
Binary Blonde is blogging for Best Friend's Animal Society and you can sponsor her here.
Dustyhawk:: Broken Mirror: I first encountered Serge during last year's Blogathon and he was a lively and engaging blogger who kept us going with his wit and cheerful attitude. He's monitoring this year, some lucky bloggers are going to have a great time.
Serge is blogging for Unicef and you can sponsor him here.
Footsteps in the Mirror: A new friend from this year's Blogathon, I am enjoying this blog and his sense of humour. I like the layout, I like the calming vibe it gives me and I like the blogger. I look forward to commenting back and forth during the 'thon.
Kamigoroshi is blogging for the Association for International Cancer Research and you can sponsor him here.
Incogblogo: Luka is a blast, she is also a new friend and will be doing a bit on the radiothon this year. Her blog is lively and entertaining and she's a fun person with a lot of energy and a charismatic way that comes across loud and clear. Luka is also a monitor this year and she'll be just purrfect at keeping her bloggers chipper and having fun.
Luka is blogging for the National Down Syndrome Society and you can sponsor her here.
Jadeddaisy [dot] net: Jade is my team leader this year and has already been a great morale booster. She is an interesting and intelligent person with a great blog and I am honoured to be a part of her team. She cares and it shows.
Jade is blogging for Planned Parenthood and you can sponsor her here.
More in the next few days but these are a start. Go take a look around.
And thank you!

Thanks for the plug Kitty. I’ll do my best for Blogathon this year as I did in the year before.
Don’t expect anything much...but...well...expect the unexpected.

Congrats on achieving (and exceeding!!) your goal! $1,000 is freaking AMAZING. The Humane Society of New York is lucky to have you on their side! :-D
Thank you so much for the plug, too. It seriously made me tear up. *sniff* It was beyond sweet of you to say such nice things. Thank you, again!
