I am DUMBASS - July, the Lost Month

Wow.

Talk about a major dumbass careless errors. A dozen calls of "DOY DOY" and into the corner with me.

I happened to click into one of the categories tonight, I think it was BoRCom babble, to see exactly how many more Movable Type licenses I need to complete all the domains and I discovered there were no entries.

What the flock is this crap, why are all the most recent category pages all stopped at June 29?

I can answer that.

June 29th was when I converted the Warbles to php so I could use the plugin for restricted-acces entries.

June 29th was also apparently when I forgot to yank all the index.html out of the category directories.

I have now successfully yanked all the offending .html indexes and lo and behold ...... almost two month's woth of warbling! Woo!

I must have had my head deeply ensconced up my ass to have missed that.

No wonder people don't link to me, it looks like I've had nothing to say!!

Doy doy doy doy doy doy and DOY.

  1. You and me both.  This is exactly the problem I had with templates.  But because I was going to a root directory and accepting whatever the webserver dished up, it took a *long* time to wake up to the fact I was actually checking a dead html page and not the current php one.  No wonder it didn’t look right.

I think its something that should probably be incorporated into MT itself - when you change the index extension, it should do a cleanup. Or at the very least, write a corrected .htaccess file. Currently, if you don’t have server access (ftp or shell), I can’t imagine a way to clean the htmls out (short of asking someone who does).

Don’t doy too hard at yourself.  You worked it out, and you surely won’t do it again.  Besides that, people tend to link to the main page and individual entries most often.
