If I Knew Then….

It hit me while I was upstate that come Christmas it will be six years since I took over ToD. Six years is a longass time, I know people who haven't even stayed married for six years. Six years. Wow.

(now playing: Bing and Bowie -bows head)

Would I do it again if I had the chance? Hard call. No one told me when I took over the mud that it would become a life-consuming thing. That what to many may be only a game is to some a necessary part of an empty or unhappy world. That along with Imping I would be a part time sex therapist, personal shrink, conflict resolver, suicide hotline, etc. Oy.

It's nothing huge, we haven't solved Alzheimer's or cancer here but what we have is something that some people really do need. Not want, need. Yes, it does make a difference in the lives of some and it's a responsibility.

It's a tough thing running a game. Imming itself is a tough thing but Imming for someone leaves a massive chunk off of one's shoulders. Owning the game is a cross to bear that only another owner can really understand. So many games open and close inside a few years, to keep one up and going with people for more than five years is pretty awesome.

All in all I would do it again if I had the chance, maybe with a few changes and without a few of the stranger coders but it's been a pretty amazing ride.

More on muds later, I'm really tired. I want to post my rant on Imming but sleep beckons..
