I’ve Donated My Soul to Facebook
I made a Facebook account a long time ago but never did anything with it, it seemed sort of closed to me. Recently I've been seeing why people are so insanely hooked on Facebook and it got my soul, too. I'm not sure when it happened, I think it was when I found the Big Wilt (Mr. PIF himself) there but holy crap am I having a blast.
I haven't talked to some of these people in 15+ years but so many of them I can close my eyes and see clearly as if it were only yesterday. Mike and Bryan, I'm blown away. Jen, I forgot how well Jen and I clicked when we weren't acting like dopey girls doing dopey girl things. Dabe, teaching now. I'm not looking to return to the past but it's sure nice to have a bank of amazing memories to withdraw from when I see people I used to run with.
I even started a group for Pat's (the bar where it all happened) and I'm seeing familiar names and faces and it's a blast. I've had a lot of really great people in and out of my life.
So kudos to Facebook for doing what MySpace can't and providing an atmosphere that is less like a meat market and for letting me connect again with people I never thought I'd see or hear from again.
It was well worth my soul, fair trade for Wilt.
