Maybe It’s Just Me..

But as I was watching the news it struck me as somewhat, well hell, I don't know what.. But it struck me.

The Pope.
Speaking of racism against Jews.
In a synagogue.
In Germany.
Speaking in Hebrew.

Made me sit there and say 'wow..' to myself.

1. Indeed.  I also found it most interesting as well, and quite a profound message.  Especially in light of Israel’s recent bitchfest over the Pope’s lack of mention of an israeli bombing in a recent address listing terrorist attacks (they called the Vatican representative in and fed him the riot act… followed later by an issuance from the Vatican to Israel telling them not try to tell the Pope what to say.)

   I continue to be impressed with the Pope.  I think he does a damn good job.  I am getting sick and tired of listening to people bring up his German heritage and forced inclusion in the Nazi Party (hello… it happened a lot then it was state policy.) as if he were racist.

   Judge him on his deeds.  He was willing to do what John Paul II set the first steps in doing, entering a Jewish house of worship and recognizing them.

2. I think it’s wonderful that he’s taken the steps he has. He may not have the charisma that John Paul had, but I think in the long run he’s going to do a good job.
