Men Who Have Touched Me
Pfft, not that way. Wrong blog.
I was talking with a friend the other day about people who come in and out of our lives who leave lasting impressions. The people who help shape us into what we become, the role-models and inspirations and friends. I spent some time thinking about who these people were for me and I'm going to list them. Not all at once, there are a lot of them. For now I'll start with some of the men who fit all the above-mentioned things. These were not sexual or romantic relationships and they remain some of the most sacred relationships I will ever have.
Dr. Frank Bryce McCluskey
(or Dr. Frank B. McCluskey for google purposes) To this day, the most inspiring and amazing man I have ever known. You gave me my love of technology and showed me how to believe in things everyone else thinks are crazy. If I ever actually do make it to Mt. Everest it will because Frank McCluskey taught me it was okay to dream big. I would love nothing more than to work with you again.
John Blaise Gomez
The Liege and only one to ever share Aelwyn. We were an amazing team and we worked well together, you made it easy to walk in a world I wasn't sure I belonged in and your spirit and talent were things I believed in with all I had. I don't know where you are now but I hope you are happy with your wife, your life and that you haven't lost that wondrous spark. You were a true friend.
Sean Hannity
The Golden Child. It's fun to say I knew him when.. What people don't know about you is how truly humble you are. Or how gracious and sincere and what a good friend you make. You made me a part of your world and made me feel like I
mattered. I knew I was right back then, I knew you were going right for the sky, Golden Child. Enjoy it, you've earned it.
Phil Boyce
The best darn Program Director WABC Talkradio has ever had or ever will have. Forget that he brought them Sean Hannity. Forget that he rebuilt the lineup and put WABC back on the charts. Phil Boyce is one of the nicest human beings to ever live. A Program Director who took a simple listener/groupie and let her have some status and a whole lot of fun. A man who listened to people and understands them. And he's damn sexy.
Dr. Peter French
The toughest professor I ever had, last I heard he was President of a small prestigious college in the south. I took his Intro. to Poli. Sci. course by accident my first semester and it hooked me for life on politics. He made me think, he challenged my brain and my way of thinking, he gave us those damn performance objectives that made me LEARN.
Dr. Peter Slater
The best professor I ever had, last I heard he was Provost at Mercy which is a great thing for the school. Dr. Slater knew how to make history reallyinteresting and his classes were intense, complex and the time flew by. I had so much respect for you, you were exactly what the ideal college professor was supposed to be. Please don't ever stop teaching.
Rich Leute
A true free spirit in a world of corporate insanity, you gave to me the magic of Rainbow and touched my soul with your depth. The night you took me to the cemetary and showed me your son's grave remains one of the most poignant moments of my life. You taught me to live and love through music and to share that life and that love. Wherever you are, I hope you are happy.
More to come.
<-- Steal me!
