Must Love Books

I've been missing my reading.

My dad is a rare book dealer, I grew up in a house that looked more like a library than a residence and that part never left me. I have a lot of books. Some are high-end collector books but even those are books I've actually read.

I've been lacking in my reading lately. Badly.

I'm going to go back to making sure I put time aside to read every night. It's not about having the time, it's about making the time.

Every time I finish a particularly heavy non-fiction book I always seem to take a break.

Break's over.

This is what I have to read:

Andrew Vachss

Mask Market. Pre-ordered, comes out August 15th. Two years since the last Burke book, I can't express how excited this makes me!

Dean Koontz

Forever Odd - I didn't even know he had written another Odd book, I loved Odd Thomas! I just discovered this a few days ago and ordered it, just came today! WOO!

Michael Connelly

The Closers - Connelly comes a close second to Vachss and I love the Harry Bosch character. I haven't read this yet as I thought it was the last Bosch book but it's not so I can stop torturing myself!

The Lincoln Lawyer - Not a Bosch but still a Connelly. I was holding off for when I really needed a novel I know I would like.

Crime Beat: A Decade Of Covering Cops And Killers - I just finished two more Terri Schiavo books, before I jump into another non-fiction I need a break!

James Patterson

I am a recent Patterson convert. I tend to shy away from anything in the top 10 but I keep an open mind. While I was up at the parents for my birthday, my dad gave me a copy of Mary Mary. I was hooked. This guy can write!

I decided to start from the beginning for a change so I ordered:

Along Came a Spider - Average movie, Morgan Freeman saved it. The plotline was interesting though and it's good to start a new series with something familiar.

Kiss the Girls - Excellent movie. I like the Alex Cross character a lot.

Cat & Mouse and Jack & Jill - The next two Cross books. I have no idea what either is about yet, I didn't even read the info or the blurbs. I just went for it.

So that's my list of reading. There are a few non-fictions floating around but these are the ones I want to kick back with and get lost in.

Viva la books!

  1. I’m reading a lot of non fiction at the moment.  The next fiction book on my list is still Name of the Rose (due for a reread), but that is waiting until I’m sitting in a library full of medieval codexes…

The good people at Amazon send me alerts whenever my favorite authors produce...it helps when making my Christmas list. )
