The Siege is absolutely classic. I really love that movie. The fact that it came out before we re-entered Iraq was truly cryptic to me. Also the fact that they used encampment as a means to deal with possible insurgency… as we did during World War II with Japanese-American and German-Americans… I thought was exceptional. It truly is a great movie the way it expounds upon how the country can get so paranoid that it is willing to go to such great lengths to protect itself, at the expense of those that are part of itself and were innocent. Condoned torture/murder. Severing of citizen rights. Definitely a theme in the vein of Farenheit 451 with the book burning by the govt to curb thought. A depth of the lengths a govt could go to to ‘protect’ its citizens. Interesting in contrast to the lengths we actually went into.
An excellent film, I watch it everytime it is on. A great choice for addition to your collection.
