No Blogathon 2008 for This Kittyn
So they have a forum there asking for ideas for next year. Lovely. I post one idea, civil and polite. What do I get in response?
BE was so much better than you both.
I'm sure you spent an adequate amount of time listening to all three stations before so boldly stating BE was better.
My original post actually made sense. I did not insult anyone and I really put effort into the wording. I thought it was an idea thread, don't people want ideas in idea threads? How come no one spoke up to say cut the hostility then, just as she did when John had the audacity to say something about the clique situation - he was instantly asked to keep it nice. *sniff sniff* Smell that? Smells like selective ethics.
BE uses the same goddamn software all 3 of us use and it was NOT better. Better in terms of personal preference perhaps but on quality alone? There was nothing better about BE.
Nice to know one can do absolutely NOTHING for the 'thon and still get treated like some demi-god.
I'm done with Blogathon. It will never change from the clique factor and when one of the top bananas obviously doesn't like me and goes out of her way to show it, what's the point.
BE was the 'hub' of the 'thon ONLY because it was plastered all over the place and got all the coverage. I'd love to actually know the numbers as more than a few people came to me and stated their dislike of BE and the 'top 40 crap' they were playing. Maybe if others besides those involved in the clique-a-thon got some notice .....................
No one off the forum got the chance to SEE the other stations so BE was a hub. Well, gee. The hub that couldn't be bothered until the last second and claimed some dumbass spam excuse. Yah, you own BE but you can't handle spam mail? Are you also selling slightly-used bridges in Brooklyn?
BE is a for-profit organisation. They're not in it for the altruism.
We can do our own blogathon for the station the same weekend and I can do the same here. I really wanted to go off in those forums but it's such a large love-in I'll just pass and move on.
For the record, I never said get rid of BE radio. I said it makes no sense to call someone official who can't be bothered to do anything for the thon except show up two days ahead of time and start yelling about how official he is. I'm sorry people are so blinded by their time at BE they think he actually did a responsible job as official station. Looked pretty sub-par to me.
When it didn't look like he would be around, I got an email asking me if we still wanted people and oh by the way, sorry for going back on my word to post an announcement on the front. The minute he showed back up I and KMRL were dropped like a hot potato.
No blogs outside of the cliques got mention, either. I did see all the clique members and same names from year after year getting repeated exposure and I don't care what people think, it was bullshit. A particular clique member who was given posting rights on the front page conveniently ONLY mentioned HER station doing the B schedule. Yah, that's real fairness in the spirit of charity. If team leaders can't put personal beefs aside and be professional and FAIR then maybe they shouldn't be Team Leaders. Ohwait, that's right. They're part of the 'in crowd.'
The two unofficial stations busted their collective asses. They had games, prizes, good music and full chatrooms. Along with that, the people included on the station all were PART of the 'thon and that's how it should be. There was more spirit and dedication in those 2 stations than in all of the fading BE.
But to be jumped on in a forum where the topic is ideas for next year by one of the clique-queens is sad. I did the right thing, I passed it by and won't be going back. Better, my ass, go whore for credits on BE and hush.
We raised over $1900 and kept a lot of people awake for 36 of 39 hours. We had group efforts as opposed to one megalomaniac who thinks because he runs a stupid blog link place he's some sort of God. SAME software, asshat.
It really infuriates me and it makes me sad. I love the idea of the blogathon and what it does. I love that over $100k was raised for charities. I love that people are willing to give up their time and space to do this. It makes me sad when the experience is tainted by cliques or the personal feelings of the higher-ups. Higher-ups are supposed to be impartial and I stand by that.
Ah well, it's really all about the charity I suppose. We raised our money, picked up two kickass new hosts, had a great time and made some friends. The clique can have their superiority and nasty forum replies, this Kittyn doesn't play that game.
For the record though, I've had a lot of people tell me BE was the worst of the 3. It's all a matter of personal opinion and it's a damn shame some people like to make their personal opinion based on nothing and then flaunt it as if the world really wants to hear it.
Bleh. No more. Next year I'm on my own. We'll get the same amount of exposure so might as well do it without the aggravation or being told we're not as good as BE by someone who couldn't bother to listen or told basically to shut up and suck it up by a higher-up.
KMRL and MPYR should be proud of what they did for those 36/39 hours. It was a world of quality and difference from BE and its uber-pompous leader.
Nice work, guys. Kudos. Someone has to say it.

This new DJ supports you 100%. I saw that slam and thought, ‘I know someone’s going to defend the others.’
And then nothing.
I’m sorry I didn’t say anything. I’ll do it now if you think it will help, but it seems that fire has died.

Don’t sweat it kittyn, you and the others did a load of good work, if its going to be a competition to those people then they can do it on their own.
charity for the sake of charity, not competition.

I hate the Blogathon more than Lewis.
Frykitty is a used up whore. You can quote me on that.

What...the FUCK?
BE was sort of a no-show this year (till the LAST MINUTE), MPYR and KMRL were involved and in the blogathon. MPYR/KMRL’s DJs (most of them) did the blogathon. We gave out prizes, did something for B-Schedulers, and promoted lesser-known bloggers without bias. And yet...THEY’RE still better than US? No fucking way.
I’m filled with righteous indignation.
Jesus fucking Christ..."official" makes cliques.
(shakes fist in rage)
(angry rant over)

You know, I’d never heard of the Blogathon until I heard you mention it last year. And other than the few mentions by you and Jeckles and a couple of others, I’ve never heard nor seen it anywhere else.

I’m at a loss for words… partly because I’m exhausted from a hellish work week, but partly because I am shocked that adults still act like stupid little high-schoolers and keep their close little annoying-ass cliques going well into adulthood.
I could call them “ass chickens” (what my boss calls stupid people) or just not say anything at all… guess it’s too late for not saying anything at all.
