Olympic What?

Ok, maybe it's a coastal thing but for the life of me I just don't get Olympic beach volleyball. I have a hard time accepting beach volleyball as an Olympic level sport..

I watched it today and some more tonight, trying to be impartial and to get into it. Didn't work. It's beach volleyball with two people per team.

Somehow I don't think the Greek Gods watching down from Mt. Olympus get it either.

"Wow, is that a gold medal?"
"Yes, yes it is."
"WOW, are you a swimmer?"
"No."
"Gymnast?"
"No."
"Runner?"
"No."
"Ok, I give up. What did you get your medal in?"
"I am a Gold Medal Olympic Beach Volleyball player.."

See what I mean?

1. They move.
   They are active.
   They wear shorts and a Nike swoosh.
   They utilize a bouncing ball.
   They break a sweat.
   I think that possibly qualifies as a sport.
   
   Sadly, even moreso than golf.
