On Whoring
Yes, I am a link whore. Yes, I would trade the gotard for Marsupial status. No, I am not above begging and sucking up for that extra link on the blogroll.
I know what blogs I read regularly, I don't need a blogroll to remind me to check the dozen or so blogs that I enjoy. Let's face it, it's a mutual courtesy extended to others who, like me, get off on seeing links.
Blog whore. Not a blog slut. There is a big difference. The blog slut links the world regardless of whether or not he or she actually reads the blogs. The blog slut neither expects or asks to be linked, it's enough to make his or her presence known by commenting all over and linking the world.
As with all good whoring, there is payment involved. Blog whoring doesn't require payment but it does ask for the courtesy of a return link. The dedicated blog whore is always up for an exchange of linky services, everything is one step closer up the eco-ladder.
My blogroll has slipped into a bit of sluttage. People who have said they were going to blogroll me never followed through yet their blog sits happily on my roll giving link-mojo. I am a whore, I am not a slut.
When someone tells me they've linked me (or asks me to link them), it is done immediately. Logging into blogrolling or clicking 'blogroll me' is not something that has to wait until one has complete concentration.
I don't expect anyone to actually care but over the next few days I'm going to go over the blogroll and trim off those who can't find it in their hearts to hook a whore up and grant a reciprocal link. I know where to find the ones I want to read. The SBC blogroll is listed completely on its own page, I've done my part for the link cause.
Please people. As you gaze lovingly at your creature rank in the eco-system please remember it is the kindness of other blog whores who put you there. To take that kindness and not return it is cheesy and definitely not good juju.
Any new link lovers who run across this place, just leave a comment and as soon as I see it you will be added. Let's all get together and do this right in one big orgiastic link-in.

I give you credit for being dedicated to your whoring. I mean if you’re gonna be a whore, you can’t be halfway about it...am I right?

My philosophy is a little different. I link only if I like the site. That is the only way to get on my blogroll because those links should be considered recommendations from me. Your blog is on my blogroll, WebKittyn, because I like your site or what you have to say, not because I’m linked here or because you asked. I don’t give a rat’s ass where my blog is in the TTLB Ecosystem and never will.
