Put That Cigarette Down!

I had the bronchitis from HELL a week or so ago. I've had chronic bronchitis all my life and it flares every few years but when it does, it's baaaaad. And it flared hard this time.

Of course smoking 2 packs a day only makes it worse, I am an admitted dumbass of the highest degree.

I'm also one of those stubborn types, I have to be pretty much passed out on the floor near death before I'll go to a doctor and this was no exception. Luckily for me, my mother had had bronchitis not too long ago (a rarity for her) so she had the inhaler (I think she used it once) and the high powered codeine which she was kind enough to send to me.

Along with the patch, stage one of the Nicoderm patch.

I haven't put it on yet, I wanted to make sure I was over the bronchitis and I wasn't sure how codeine would mix with it so I held off. I've been smoking maybe 3 cigs a day and they make me ill. I am determined this time to do it, I will NOT be that person with the oxygen tank in one hand and my cig in the other.

When this Blogathon is over, the patch goes on. If I can stay up 24 hours and warble, I can see this through too.

I've got this sudden desire to live past 40.

  5. You have my whole-hearted support.  Though I have never smoked, I am the absolute minority in my family.  I have unfortunately had exposure to the extreme from the devil-sticks with the loss of my grandmother to lung cancer.  Definitely not something I would want to see anyone go thru.

  6. You ROCK! It’s not easy, but SO worth it. I just passed the 1 year, 6 month point last week, and I know I’m so much better for it.

  7. Hey, I just wanted to stop by to say thanks for sponsoring me! grin

And I agree about the cigarettes… It just messes up your lung (and the rest of your body) bigtime. Not worth it!
