Spotlite Site Six - 2996 Voices

I came across this site by accident and I was immediately touched by the author's idea. As the five year anniversary approaches I've often wondered how much people out of the NY area actually do remember.
I'm sure there are going to be tributes all over the net but this is one I quickly decided I wanted to be a part of and I make it the Spotlite Site in hope that some of you will find this a good thing and get in on it.

Its concept is a simple one. For the 2,996 people who died on 9/11 the author, D.C. Roe, is looking for a blogger. 2,996 bloggers for 2,996 victims. On September 11 those who signed up will write a tribute post in honour of the person whose name they are sent from D.C. Roe.

I signed up and within a few hours I was sent the name of a woman who died in the Towers and a link to a site where I could find some information on her.

It doesn't have to be a novel. A simple remembrance of who the person was is enough. The information is there to find and it should take at the most an hour out of your life. One hour out of a busy lifetime. As I was looking through the information site I saw postings from family members of the deceased, thanking the public for not forgetting. That's what it's all about.

I'm sure I will be involved in some other tributes as the anniversary gets closer but this one is unique in its personal touch.

So click the image and go sign up, there are currently 550 volunteers out of the desired 2,996. Spread the word, there are some buttons on the site as well as information. It should be no problem to meet the number if people give a little bit of themselves.

My thanks to D.C. Roe for coming up with this idea and getting it out there for people to find. May we never ever forget.
