That’s a Whole Lot of Republicans

Hello. My name is WebKittyn and I am a Republican.

I was looking forward to the debate tonight. I watched the Democrats with an open mind and I kept the open mind for tonight. I wanted to hear Romney, this was the most I've heard him speak. I wanted to hear what Giuliani had to say and if he could manage to rest on laurels other than his handling of 9/11. I wanted to hear where McCain placed himself, if he was going to be the hawk or the moderate. I wasn't at all familiar with some of the participants so I figured it would be a good use of 90 minutes.

First let me say I don't like Chris Matthews at all. Brian Williams was much better as a Moderator, Matthews is obnoxious and arrogant and he rubs me the wrong way.

They asked some stupid and unnecessary questions. Whether or not they want to see Bill Clinton back in the White House is a stupid question and a waste of time. Hey asshats, you have ten candidates up there and 90 minutes. How about we leave the non-questions out of things and stick to the issues.

I admit also that I had never heard of Tom Tancredo until tonight.

They all folded like origami at the mention of Roe v. Wade. I don't think a repeal is a wise choice, I never have. I've never actually thought it was possible either but there were all these men tonight saying they wouldn't mind if it was. Men. I don't like abortion as birth control and I think there comes a point where mandatory sterilisation is a good idea but I don't like the idea of stuffy men making decisions about my womb.

Strategically it was a stupid move. If the women of the country ever decided to merge and activate and vote as one giant block they could easily determine the winner. Where are all the strategists telling these men they're making potentially fatal errors.

None of them jumped out as stellar candidates but then again neither did any of the Democrats.

There was hardly any humour either. I know, that shouldn't be a requirement for a debate but come on.. If you can ask stupid questions about Bill Clinton you can stop for a joke or two.

I'd like to see a debate where both sides are asked the same questions. I feel like the Democrats got better questions, the Republicans got too many war questions. Don't Republicans want to fix health care? Education? Hunger? Social Security? War war war. Not to belittle war but it is the presidency.

I hope they get rid of Chris Matthews for the next debate and bring in someone with some personality. Let Brian Williams do both debates.

Tonight's debate did not a thing to help me decide if I want to back a Republican. Yes, it's way too early to even be debating but they are so if they're going to do it it might as well have substance. I like Romney but he seems a bit too far to the right and this country is not evolved in its thinking enough yet to elect a Mormon President.

This would be a good year for a third party candidate with substance. I hear it a lot, people are apathetic about the candidates for the most part. A good third party candidate who doesn't have his head up his ass and doesn't have to pander to the extreme ends of either party. A friend of mine said he wishes Al Gore would run on the Green Party ticket and after I snickered at him it made me think. I bet that would make some people nervous.

Politics can be so much fun, so exciting and intense and ugly and beautiful and wild. There's so much wrong with the country and the world, where are the radical thinkers?

I know where they were not... They were not at the Republican debate tonight.

Calling all radical thinkers - WAKE UP.

  1. Webkittyn, the Roe v Wade debacle was pretty much taken out of their hands when John Roberts stated he believed in
“stare decisis,” or “let it stand.”

Until someone comes up with a compelling new argument, the Supremes simply won’t touch the subject and I wish these political talking heads would stop measuring Republicans up by their stance on it.

  2. There hasn’t been a good candidate running for President in years. I can’t get excited over any party. I’d like to find a candidate that cared a bit more for the issues going on in this country rather than trying to convert another country to our warped sense of democracy.
