The *yawn* Emmy Awards
Something wasn't right with the Emmy Awards this year. As grand as Al Pacino was and as much as I loved seeing Meryl Streep, it just seemed to drag. Billy Crystal wasn't funny this year at all, he seemed scripted and stiff.
And the political crap has always bothered me on both sides. I don't give a fat rat's arse what candidate a celebrity says I should vote for and they're not up there at that podium to give a lesson in politics. Take your friggin' award, do the humble routine and say thanks and get the hell off the stage. It's sad that people actually do care what politicians the stars endorse purely because they're stars. Wake the hell up and try and original thought sometime, sheep-heads.
At least it wasn't all Sex and the City this year, viva la Sopranos all the way! And to counter my above negativity, it was nice to see the Olympic athletes in the audience, although I don't think anyone's eyes moved off Jennie (Jenny?) Finch. Jesus, she's stunning. And a gold medal softball pitcher.. Talk about being young and having the world at your fingertips. Good for her, go Jennie!
Overall, not at all impressed with this year's Emmy Awards.

Billy was pretty much scripted. His thing is the Academy Awards. The problem is that Garry Shandling is pretty lame. These award shows get tedious after awhile...except for maybe the music awards. At least they have performances.

I don’t watch award shows, anymore. When I did watch them, however, I was always irritated about celebrity’s pushing political stuff too. Nothing like the free spotlight to push a cause.
I don’t know. Even if I may agree with some causes, I just find it cheap and unbelievable when a star gets on stage, in full dress up, jewelry out the wazoo and an 8 hour coif to talk about the starving in Ethiopia. The context is all boggled up. I just find it hard to believe that they are sincere in any event.
Yeah, they may share some opinions, but why, just because they are a celebrity, would I assume they are 100% right, in any event. Or politicians for that matter. By the by, I digress.
I agree with you. Don’t need to see or hear their political opinions at an award show. Let them call in a talk show like everyone else to contribute their opinion, or participate in a town hall meeting with candidates… somewhere where it is applicable to the event.
