Updating Chuck

My dad, not the other port on the mud.

He spent the night in ICU, my mother slept outside on a couch. All the cancer tests are negative, the pacemaker is working fine. His diaphragm is not working on one side, explaining the low oxygen. They don't know why, they've run a shitload of tests and he has another big test tomorrow.

He's in a private room and my mother can sleep in there tonight instead of a plastic ICU couch. I just got off the phone with him. He sounds weak and quiet, now I'll go in the other room and freak out a bit. I know it's the stress, spending the night in ICU will freak anyone out, I know it's all the tests and the poking and prodding and crap he's been through in the past 24 hours but I've never heard him sound like that except for after the stroke.

Ok, time for me to go stress eat a whole chocolate cake or batch of brownies or something.

3. Warm brownies or better yet, fudge with vanilla ice cream.  I’ll keep my candles aflame and always remember, we men folk don’t like being near a hospital, let alone be inside it.
