Wisdom

Never let it be said that I don't learn from past mistakes.

It is 4 AM. I have just downloaded a copy of the much awaited Movable Type 3.2 But it's a full version instead of an upgrade version and the last time I did that I overwrote everything.

Lesson learned? As much as my obsessive-compulsive ass is ITCHING to install it anyway and hope like the devil it works, I shall instead grab an iced tea, a slim-jim and a piece of chocolate pudding cake and go either sleep or read till the golf.

4 AM tired installs - baaaaaaaaaaaaad juju.

Yes, I have learned.

But oh, how I'm itching....

  1. MT3.2 does not need an upgrade version any more. The application detects if an upgrade is neccessary.

  2. Be advised though: MT3.2 is still beta. If you want to upgrade, keep your existing mt.cfg file.

  3. Wow, thank you for commenting, I appreciate that.  I found the attitude on the mailing list to be a bit smug and condescending.  People DO make mistakes with upgrades, doesn’t mean they ‘deserve what they get.’ Nothing like veteran snobbery to turn a person off.  I’d like to remind even the experts that at one time they too were novices and someone helped THEM at one point.

As my knowledge of MT expands, I’d like to think I will not become an MT snob and I will help those who get confused without being smug.

As for the install, I’ll give it a shot in a bit.  Thank you again for taking the time to comment.

  4. There are a few bug reports trickling in on the Beta.  I would very seriously consider letting other people who enjoy testing betas have the headaches and wait for the release version.

Of course, I’m now going to trundle off and install the Beta on my laptop, but I have nothing of import there.

  5. I’m having has trouble with the TypeKey id at the moment, so it’s an old fashioned comment.

There are a few bug reports trickling in on the beta.  You might want to hold off for a moment and leave the headaches to those who enjoy that sort of thing.

Of course, I’m now going to try upgrade my 3.17 on my laptop to 3.2beta - but I have nothing there to loose.
