I Am Surrounded by Men
And it's not even fun.
I couldn't sleep last night, I made it up for the first bit of Imus at 6 this morning. This in itself is fine but I was unceremoniously rousted at 8:20 this morning. Bang! Bang! Bang bang bang! As Cartman would so eloquently say, "what the fuck?!?" Get up, peer outside the window and there they are. Men. 5 or 6 men. Men with long pieces of metal. No, that is not a euphemism. They really are long pieces of metal.
Turns out they're here to do the siding on the house. For those who weren't around in the beginning, my landlord is cheap. Cheap is a compliment. The first crew he had put on the siding turned out to be inmates. I discovered this as I was sitting on my bed listening to them talk right outside my window. One guy asked the other if he wanted to get a beer after work and the dude told him no, he had to get back to the jail after the job. The siding started coming off a week after they finished and now every time it's windy all the siding blows around. Whoopee.
Last week it was the roof. This was Saturday, the day before Easter. The landlord didn't bother to warn any of us they were coming so everyone got stuck in the house as a dumpster was brought up and no one could move their cars. Who the bloody Hell does the roof the day before Easter? Now it's the siding. At least I was able to wake DS up so he could move the car. I could have just gone out and moved it but I wanted to share the 8:20 misery.
As I type this there is a man waving at me from his scaffold, good thing I don't have my pipe in my mouth. Hello, man who speaks no English. How are you this fine morning?
And ya know what sucks? 7 people and one moron are going to be reading this and judging it and instead of anything profound or even amusing, I'm so damn tired this is the best I can muster up.
Blame the landlord! Withhold the rent until the Thunderdome verdict is in!
I think I'm delirious. I need a blue Jolt.
Next time I'm surrounded by men I hope it's a little bit more ....... stimulating.
