I’m a Foodie!
I've been watching a lot of the Food Network lately. More than usual, it's been getting me through dialysis. I love most of the shows and the personalities and I've picked up some good tips.
I'm not big on Rachel Ray. I watch the 30 Minute Meals but I find her very fake. As hard as she tries to play to the audience like she's so friendly and fun she just comes across as really fake. Like as soon as you walk away she'd be saying something snide about you fake. I love Paula, I'd love to meet Paula. She comes across as about as real as it gets and her food is right up my alley. I can't get enough Paula Dean. Guy Fieri is always fun, I'd love to have a beer with that dude. I like the Barefoot Contessa, I think Ina is a very classy lady and it comes across in her food and her mellow style. I like Giada, she's just so damn bubbly and cute you want to hug her. Bobby Flay is a little too full of himself but he makes some interesting food and I love the Throwdowns, especially when he loses. Lately I've come to really enjoy the Neely's as well, I'd love to have that sort of large close family mojo going on and they can cook like no one else. I'm looking forward to more of Sunny Anderson and I can't wait for Ted Allen's show.
I think I watch more Food Network than any other channel these days, drives my mother crazy. Not being a veggie eater, most of the stuff I see I would have to really edit for myself but even the stuff I don't like ends up looking good.
I've always wanted to go see Emeril live. Last I checked it was something like a two year waiting list for tickets.
I've got a huge thing for Chef John Besh. I think he's drop dead gorgeous and I love the way he cooks his food. I cried when he lost The Next Iron Chef, he blows Symon away. Look, here he is in all his glory:

The man is hot hot hot but I digress. Food TV.
I live right by the Culinary Institute of America, it's a beautiful campus with some of the most serious students I've ever seen. A few times a year they send out invitations to different dining rooms on the campus where students serve their food, it ranges from uber-fancy to pub food and it's some good stuff.
I like to cook, I like to experiment with ingredients and see what I come up with. I've learned a lot from watching Food TV and it really does become addictive!
Viva la Food TV!
