Secret Window
I admit I was all set to not like this movie. I love Stephen King and I have for a long time but his books are not made into great movies. Yes, there was The Shining (the Nicholson version) and Carrie and if I thought hard enough I could come up with more but overall the formulas just don't mesh.
SW had a caveat though and its name is Depp. There is no question he is easily one of the most versatile and brilliant actors of this time but I was skeptical that even Depp could save a King flick.
He not only saved it, he made it work. Flawlessly.
I really enjoyed this movie, especially with the non-flowery ending. It went by fast and I found myself glad I DVR'd it.
Depp's descent into madness was so subtle it got by me completely and had I not already known the outcome, I
would have been shocked. I like shcok, doesn't happen often. This was an Identity kind of ending, I like.
Overall, I'd give it 7 meows (I'm a tough critic) and Depp 8 meows for making the movie what it was.
